It amazes me how many people use the title “God,” yet mean something entirely different when they say it. For some, God is a distant force. For others, He’s a comforting presence. But for those of us who follow Christ, the question becomes more personal: Do we believe in God—or god?The Bible teaches us clearly:“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33
The problem isn’t what the Bible says. The problem is what we believe. What we live. What we seek.Do we truly seek our Heavenly Father for our problems, our concerns, and even the delights of our hearts? Or do we turn first to our friends, our family, our routines, our comforts—and place them in the position meant only for God?
It’s easy to say “God is first” when life is smooth. But when the storm hits, when the questions pile up, when the ache in our soul grows louder—who do we run to? Who do we trust to hold our hearts?
This isn’t about guilt. It’s about grace. It’s about realigning our hearts with the One who knows us best. The One who doesn’t just want to be our emergency contact—but our daily companion, our source, our joy.
So today, I invite you to pause. To ask yourself gently: Am I seeking the kingdom of God—or the comfort of gods? Because only one leads to peace.
Only one adds all things. Only one is truly worthy.
A Prayer for Realignment
Heavenly Father, I come to You with an open heart, asking for clarity and courage. Help me to seek You first—not just in crisis, but in every moment. Forgive me for the times I’ve placed others, even good things, in Your rightful place. Teach me to trust You with my needs, my dreams, and my daily decisions. Let Your kingdom be my compass and Your righteousness my guide. I want to know You—not just know about You. Thank You for Your grace, Your patience, and Your unfailing love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
