Gratitude in the Midst of Fear

Daily Devotional

🌿 Gratitude in the Midst of Fear
Scripture: "When I am afraid, I put my trust in you." —Psalm 56:3 (NIV)

Devotional: Fear has a way of shrinking the world. It whispers worst-case scenarios, clouds our judgment, and makes even the smallest steps feel like mountains. But gratitude—real, soul-deep gratitude—is a light that breaks through the fog.

Gratitude doesn’t deny fear. It doesn’t pretend everything is fine. Instead, it gently shifts our gaze from what threatens us to the One who holds us. It says, “Even here, even now, I will thank You.”

Today, maybe the fear is loud. Maybe the unknowns are stacking up. But what if you paused and named one thing—just one—that reminds you God is near? A warm mug in your hands. A cat curled up beside you. A verse that found you at just the right time.

Gratitude is not a cure for fear, but it is a companion. It walks beside us, whispering, “You are not alone. You are still blessed. You are still held.”

Reflection Prompt:

What fear are you carrying today?
What small grace can you thank God for in the middle of it?

Prayer: Lord, when fear rises, help me rise with it—not in panic, but in praise. We have so much to be thankful for. Even in the shadows, Your light finds us. My life has purpose, and it means everything to You. Remind me that I am not forgotten, not forsaken, and never alone. Teach me to see Your goodness even when my heart trembles. Thank You for being near, for being steady, and for being kind. Amen.
